A mnemonic object is a treasure that encapsulates a precious memory. It is a safe keeper; a repository for moments and emotions that are too dear to store only within the fragile, ephemeral mind. Do these memories linger on when the one who bestowed them and the object are parted?
It is my desire to honour and celebrate the memories held within certain objects. My aim is to provide a glimpse into the chronicles of another's life, but I am not concerned for factual truth. Instead I engage with an interpretation of the truth.
My work attemps to capture a sense of a story, one that the viewer can recall, or perhaps invent from fragments of their own memories. Through this process I hope the viewer will begin to consider their own stories.
